Simon Rashid 121484On April 30 at approximately 2:34 a.m., State Police responded to a report of a wrong-way driver in a Nissan Xterra traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-87 near the Tappan Zee Bridge. Troopers, with the assistance of Wrecker 1 (the standby tow truck), quickly pulled the vehicle over before any incidents.

The driver of the vehicle, Simon Rashid, 31, of Hollis, was found to be intoxicated. Rashid was transported and processed at SP Tarrytown, where he refused to submit to a breath test to determine the alcohol content in his system. He was subsequently charged with:

  • Driving While Intoxicated; an Unclassified Misdemeanor
  • Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations

He was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Village of Tarrytown Court on a future date.
