goredforwomen-logoIt is a time to celebrate women and empower them to improve their heart health. At the Luncheon, hundreds of women will be able to get health screenings, learn lifesaving information, attend an interactive expo, and much more.

This year’s luncheon will recognize the first-ever Go Red Survivor Class in Utica, featuring eight local women who are survivors of heart disease and stroke. Survivor Class member Ondrea Grippe-Getz, along her mother Donna Grippe, will share their family’s story.

Other highlights include a keynote address on stress and the heart from Dr. Joanne Joseph, of SUNY Polytechnic Institute, and an appearance by Miss New York Earth United States 2016 Corrin Stellakis of Bridgeport.

When: Wednesday, May 4. Interactive Vendor Fair starts at 10 a.m. Luncheon program runs from noon to 1:30 p.m.

 1 in 3 American women die of heart disease and stroke, compared to 1 in 30 women who die of breast cancer.

 Ninety percent of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease.

 Eighty percent of cardiac events in women may be prevented if they make the right choices for their hearts, involving diet, exercise and abstinence from smoking.
