state-police-seal-150x150Oneida-based state police charged an Ava man with DWI after observing his vehicle driving erratically in the Town of Verona Friday night.

At approximately 8:25 p.m., Trooper Steven Fountain observed a 2000 Jeep Cherokee travelling along East Main Street in Verona, swerving across the double solid center line of the road on several occasions. The trooper stopped the Jeep and interviewed the operator, Rusty A. Trinka, 49, of Route 26, Ava.

It was determined that Trinka had been consuming alcoholic beverages and sobriety tests indicated that he was intoxicated.  Trinka was taken into custody for DWI and transported to the SP Oneida barracks for processing, where a breath test determined Trinka’s

It was determined that Trinka had been consuming alcoholic beverages and sobriety tests indicated that he was intoxicated. He was taken into custody for DWI and transported to the SP Oneida barracks for processing, where a breath test determined his blood-alcohol content to be .17 percent.

Trinka was ticketed for driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or greater, failure to keep right and consuming alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in Verona Town Court May 17.
