state-police-seal-150x150On April 2, a trooper from the Lowville station arrested Elizabeth S. Fairbanks, 20, for driving while ability impaired by drugs.

At approximately 11:15 p.m., troopers observed a suspicious vehicle parked in a parking lot on Mechanic Street in Croghan. Troopers observed the vehicle running with the lights on and right turn signal flashing. Troopers also observed and a female driver passed out at the wheel inside. The investigating trooper observed several indicators of impairment.

Standardized field sobriety tests were administered and Fairbanks was placed under arrest. Additionally, Fairbanks was found to possess a small quantity of heroin.

She was transported back to the station where she was evaluated by a drug recognition expert and determined to be impaired. Fairbanks provided a urine sample to be sent to the lab for drug analysis. She was charged with misdemeanor seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and DWAI Drugs. She was processed and released to a third party, to appear in court at a later date.
