The Greater Oneida Chamber of Commerce has named Alternatives Business of the Month for May

In 1972, Alternatives the industrial enterprise of The Arc of Madison Cortland was created to provide work opportunities for adults with disabilities and build a lasting business entity to support programs at The Arc of Madison Cortland. Alternatives is a diverse business that has successfully prospered for over 40 years providing industrial/commercial packaging and assembly services to the business community. As the business division of The Arc of Madison Cortland, Alternatives Industry has the dual responsibility of training and employing adults with disabilities and managing a profitable and customer focused enterprise. Darin Pearo was recently named Alternatives new Director of Facilities and Business Operations.

Alternatives provides a wide array of services such as, LOJO Technology performs electronic and mechanical manufacturing and assemblies. The E-Waste Program in Madison County recycles electronics in cooperation with Madison County. Alternatives provide furniture restoration for Harden Furniture.  Alternatives Food Products focuses on fresh and processed food products with a primary division of margarine and butter processing. And, in 2015 Alternatives Recycling Center, a private not for profit business that contracts with Madison County to provide recycling services, processed 4,800 tons of recyclables and celebrated 25 years of recycling in Madison County.

Alternatives was the first recipient of the Greater Oneida Chamber of Commerce – 2006 Business at Its Best Award. Alternatives/The Arc of Madison Cortland have valued the membership with the Greater Oneida Chamber of Commerce with at least 25 years of membership.

The Member of the Month program is part of an ongoing effort by the Greater Oneida Chamber of Commerce to honor a deserving member business each month for their contribution to the quality of life and economy of our community.
