state-police-seal-150x150On May 20, at approximately 12:18 p.m., Trooper Jason West of Troop B, SP Gouverneur, was parked on the west side of the 300 block of Washington Street in the City of Watertown in a marked patrol unit.

Benjamin Koster, 26, of Carthage, was driving north on Washington Street, when he crossed the southbound lane and struck the front of Trooper West’s patrol car. The patrol car was pushed backward into a parked unoccupied Dodge Ram pickup truck, which then struck a parked, unoccupied, Ford Escape.

West was transported by Guilfoyle Ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center for minor injuries and released.

Koster was transported by Guilfoyle Ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center where he is being treated for minor injuries.  The investigation is continuing at this time.

The State Police were assisted at the scene by the Watertown Police Dept., Watertown Fire Dep’t and Guilfoyle Ambulance.
