COLGATE C-GATEColgate placed five crew members on the 2016 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete award list, announced this week.

Katie Kelleher, Sophie Pennoyer and Catherine Walsh were selected from Colgate’s Varsity 8+ boat, with Amy Abshier and Maria Cesarini named from the Second Varsity 8+. Kelleher was a sophomore this season majoring in physics and Pennoyer a sophomore in computer science, while Walsh graduated earlier this month with a degree in
neuroscience. Abshier and Cesarini also were sophomores, with Abshier studying art and psychology, and Cesarini studying natural science.

Award winners must have rowed in their institution’s NCAA or IRA eligible boats for a minimum of 75 percent of the spring races or participated in a regional conference event. They also had to maintain a 3.5 or higher grade-point average for their career through the fall semester.

First-year student-athletes were not eligible.
