Bernie Sanders has announced he is endorsing Eric Kingson in the race to be the Democratic nominee for Congress in New York’s 24th District. In an email to his supporters, Senator Sanders had this to say about Eric.
“Eric Kingson is a new candidate I’m endorsing for Congress in New York,” Sanders said. “I’ve worked with Eric for years to help stop cuts to Social Security, and our efforts paid off this week when President Obama actually spoke out for expanding Social Security. Eric should continue this progress in Congress.”
“Being endorsed by Senator Sanders is an incredible honor,” Kingson said. “He is revolutionizing the way campaigns are run. He is bringing up issues like income inequality and systemic corruption that have been ignored for too long. Bernie is standing up to Wall Street and large moneyed interests. He is inspiring people from outside the political process to get re-engaged; voting, volunteering, hoping again. The engagement from younger voters is unbelievable. It is truly amazing to see the effect he has had on our political landscape.
“The message in this endorsement is clear. I keep saying this, but it is so true: people who have worked with me in that past know I can get things done. I have the ability to go down to Washington and make change. I’ve done it with Social Security, and look forward to working on issues of great concerns to Central New Yorkers. From creating green jobs, to expanding access to healthcare, to cleaning up our campaign finance system, to addressing the unsustainable inequality and poverty in our communities, I know how to build broad coalitions and get things done.
“My message and policy proposals are clear, and voters all around our district respect that. Bernie also knows my commitments run deep. We’re very excited with everything that’s happening with our campaign, and we’re looking forward to our chance to bring our message to the people of Central New York.”
