Kingson_TWIn a district where healthcare is the last industry with any longevity yet senior and childhood poverty rank among the highest in the nation, only one candidate for congress has stood, and will continue to stand against the establishment: Eric Kingson.

NNU joins a recent slew of endorsements for the Kingson campaign, including Senator Bernie Sanders, Rep. Raul Grijalva, Rep. John Conyers, Democracy for America, and Progressive Democrats of America.

Eric has continuously and consistently fought for the rights of seniors to live a life of dignity rather than poverty. Karen Higgins, RN, Co-president of National Nurses United said the following:

National Nurses United is proud to endorse Eric Kingson for Congress because he has demonstrated his leadership and ability to make change defending Social Security from devastating cuts while also working to expand it. Eric shares our conviction that health care is a human right, and that a Medicare for All system is the most effective and efficient way to provide high quality health-care to everyone.

Nurses support Eric because he stands proudly with union workers, and he is unafraid to challenge the establishment in order to fight for what’s right.  Eric shares nurses’ opposition to disastrous free trade deals and our dedication to addressing climate change, both of which threaten public health.

Kingson was excited to receive the endorsement saying:

National Nurses United is a tremendous organization. They fight not only for quality working conditions and fair pay for their workers, but advocate for a more just healthcare system for all of America. I am honored to receive their endorsement, and believe it is a symbol of how our campaign is fighting for working people in Central New York.

There is a strong momentum with the campaign heading into the June 28th primary, which has received over 8,000 individual contributions in the past week, averaging about $6.
