Oneida-based state police charged Clifford A. Metott, 58, of Maple Flats Road, Cleveland, with DWI following a traffic stop in the town of Verona Friday evening.
At approximately 10:40 p.m. June 17, Trooper Steven Fountain observed a 2007 Toyota Tacoma travelling westbound on State Route 31 pass another westbound vehicle in a no-passing zone.
A traffic stop was conducted and while Trooper Fountain interviewed the driver, Metott, a strong odor of alcoholic beverage was observed coming from the driver’s breath. Field sobriety tests indicated that Metott was intoxicated and he was taken into custody for DWI.
Metott was processed at the SP Oneida barracks, where a breath test determined his blood-alcohol content to be .15 percent. Metott was issued traffic tickets for DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 percent or greater, passing in a no-passing zone and failure to signal a turn.
He is scheduled to appear in Verona Tow Court July 5.
