Oneida-based state police arrested a Rome man for felony assault after investigating a fight at the Verona Firemen’s Field Days June 12.
At approximately 8:15 p.m. Sunday, June 12, state police were advised of a physical altercation occurring at the Verona Firemen’s Field Days on Rock Road, Town of Verona. The investigation revealed that two 18-year-old men from Rome had been involved in a physical altercation while attending the field days and during the fight, one of the men brandished a knife, cut the other man on the arm and then left the scene.
EMS personnel from the Verona Fire Department treated the victim for non-life threatening injuries. The knife was recovered by troopers at the scene. On June 14, the suspect Vincent DeGeorge, 18, of North Madison Street, Rome was located and arrested by troopers. DeGeorge was processed at the SP Oneida barracks and charged with Assault 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. He was arraigned in the Town of Vernon Court and posted $500 cash bail to reappear in Verona Town Court at a later date.
On June 14, suspect Vincent DeGeorge, 18, of North Madison Street, Rome, was located and arrested by troopers.
