Martin P McLaughlinOn Friday, July 8, at approximately 11:17 a.m., State Police in Pulaski attempted to stop a speeding Dodge minivan travelling northbound on Interstate 81 in the Town of Richland. The driver failed to comply and continued northbound into Jefferson County. The vehicle eventually came to a stop near exit 44 in the Town of Adams.

Investigation at the scene revealed that the operator, Martin P. McLaughlin, 25, of Silver Bay, was intoxicated and also in possession of marijuana. He was charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated, both misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct, both violations. He was also charged with several Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

Troopers on scene were assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

McLaughlin was arraigned in Richland Town Court and remanded to the Oswego County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bail bond. He is scheduled to return to court July 11 at 7 p.m.
