Caz libraryChildren and adults of all ages are invited to the Cazenovia Public Library on Friday, July 22nd for the third installment of the summer Family Film Series. Head to the Community Room at 2:00 pm for a free public screening ofHarry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001), or arrive before the show for craft time with Ms. Jenna at 1:30 pm.

Based on the best-selling novel by J.K. Rowling, this enchanting fantasy adventure film centers on Harry Potter, a seemingly ordinary 11-year-old boy who lives in suburban England with his hostile relatives, the Dursleys. On his eleventh birthday, the household receives an unexpected visitor: a giant named Hagrid. Harry learns the truth about his past, discovering that not only is he the orphan son of two powerful wizards, but also that he possesses unique magical powers of his own.

Harry soon departs for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a prestigious boarding school set apart from the realm of normal humans or “muggles.” There, Harry and his friends embark on an adventure to prevent the theft of a mystical stone that could be used to restore the evil Lord Voldemort to full power.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is rated PG and runs 152 minutes. Popcorn will be provided.

Before the show, each participant will have the chance to create his or her own golden snitch, the coveted silver-winged ball essential to the wizard game Quidditch.
