At its July 19 meeting, the Oneida Public Library Board of Trustees appointed Katherine Wojciechowski on an interim basis to fill the Board vacancy created by the resignation of Jim Dieso, who retired from the board in April due to personal reasons.
Wojciechowski, a Utica native, has been a resident of the Village of Oneida Castle since 1993. She is active in Village of Oneida Castle activities and is a member of the Oneida Castle Veteran Memorial Committee. A graduate of S.U.N.Y. Geneseo with a master’s degree in education, she retired in 2010 from her teaching position in the Oneida City School District after 32 years. Currently, she teaches at Holy Cross Academy in Vernon, a post she has held since 2010. She is a life-long library user and supporter.
“I strongly feel that a vibrant, modern library is vital to the health and future of any community,” Wojciechowski said.
Patricia Albaugh, board secretary, said the board is grateful for Wojciechowski’s interest and willingness to serve.
“We are pleased to have her join us as a clear advocate representing a voice for our Town of Vernon residents,” Albaugh said.
Wojciechowski’s appointment will run until June 30, 2017. The board seat she holds will be up for election in March, 2017, and all interested parties may run for it at that time.
At its July 19 meeting, the OPL Board also elected officers for the new 2016-17 fiscal year: George Richard Kinsella, Jr., president; Lillian White, vice-president; T. Charles Chambers, treasurer; and Patricia Albaugh, secretary.
