Looking for something fun to do this Saturday? This year’s town of Nelson Skunk Hollow Day will begin at 1:00pm this Saturday, Aug. 6, at the town office.
The town baseball game — Nelson versus Fenner — is scheduled for 1:00pmon the ball field behind the town office. There will also be games, free ice cream, classic cars, town history, and information and displays by local businesses.
A free concert is scheduled for 4:00pm at The Nelson Odeon. The past two year’s concerts have been so much fun that Laine Gilmore has put together a group of local musicians from the Nelson area again this year. The Skunk Hollow Band features Tim Murray, Laine Gilmore, Sondra Whalen, Wayne McFarland, Pat Avery, and John (Johnny Wiz) Wisniewski.
Everyone is welcome, so come out and join the fun!
History Lesson: Legend has it that Skunk Hollow was the original name of the hamlet of Nelson. Apparently this was where the first skunk was discovered west of the Hudson River. Now that’s something to celebrate!
