State Police arrested Nigel I David, age 28, from Lodi Street in the City of Syracuse for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nddegree, Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd degree, Government Obstruction, Reckless Driving and various Vehicle and Traffic violations.
At approximately 6pm, State Police in Troop C attempted to stop a 2004 Ford Explorer on Interstate 81 in the Town of Cortlandville, Cortland County. The operator of the Ford Explorer failed to comply and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued into Onondaga County where the operator, who was later identified as Nigel David continued in an attempt to evade police. While traveling on Interstate 81 northbound in the town of Lafayette, the Ford Explorer struck a 2016 Subaru Legacy, which was operated by Kayla McChristy. McChristy was not injured in the collision. The Ford Explorer continued north on Interstate 81, and exited off Brighton Avenue in the city of Syracuse. The vehicle turned left onto Salina Street and turned into a gas station. The operator then fled on foot. After a short foot chase, Troopers caught up with the suspect and took him into custody.
David will be arraigned tomorrow morning in the City of Syracuse Court.
