The Canastota Area Association of Churches took the occasion of the recent 15th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks to hold a quarterly Concert of Prayer at Hope Christian Fellowship across from Reflections Memorial Park on Peterboro Street.
After praying for the nation’s needs, a group of about 25 people from five area churches crossed the street to join Canastota Firemen, village leaders, and others gathered for a solemn memorial of the tragic events of that day.
CAAC member-pastor Jeff Rogers of the Church of the Nazarene offered opening prayers and a benediction for the memorial observance, which included moving tributes from our village leaders, one of whom spent weeks coordinating response efforts immediately following the collapse of the twin towers.
A candle-lighting ceremony among everyone in attendance concluded the event.
The 11-church association conducts 4 special prayer events each year called “concerts of prayer.” These center on specific areas of need in the nation and community, and offer individuals the opportunity to lead out in prayer, or quietly support the general direction of the prayers.
