state-police-seal-150x150Sullivan-based state police arrested Shannon M. Vadala, 34, of Woodbine Avenue, Syracuse, on a charge of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after she was found in possession of drugs at the Sullivan Town Court Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. Sept. 20, Trooper Michael Petrie was dispatched to the Sullivan courthouse to investigate a report of a woman inside the courtroom who appeared to be severely impaired by drugs.  Witnesses advised the trooper that the woman could barely walk and talk and kept dropping her phone and falling asleep while sitting in the courtroom.

Petrie interviewed the woman and found that she was in possession of a quantity of methadone without having a valid prescription. Vadala was taken into custody for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and processed at the SP Sullivan barracks.

Vadala was arraigned in Sullivan Town Court and remanded to the Madison County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond. She is scheduled to return to Sullivan Town Court Oct. 18, 2016.
