state-police-seal-150x150Oneida based state police charged a Munnsville woman with DWAI-Drugs and alcohol after investigating a report of a person slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle in the Town of Vernon Tuesday evening.

At approximately 10:20 p.m. on September 20, Trooper Steven Fountain was dispatched to the area of Sholtz Road and Wentworth Drive in the Town of Vernon to investigate a possible motor vehicle accident.  Upon arrival, he observed a 2007 Chrysler minivan idling on the front lawn of a residence with a woman slumped over asleep in the driver’s seat.

After waking the driver, identified as Nicole M. Ennis, age 30, of West Road, Munnsville, it was observed that she had an odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath. Sobriety tests revealed that Ennis was impaired by a substance other than just alcohol and she was taken into custody. A quantity of marijuana and Xanax pills, which Ennis did not have a prescription for, were located inside the minivan.

Ennis was transported to the SP Oneida barracks and evaluated by a drug recognition expert, where it was determined that Ennis was under the influence of a controlled substance.  A breath test determined her blood alcohol content to be .07 percent. She was charged with Driving while Impaired by the combination of drugs and alcohol, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, unlawful possession of marijuana and other traffic charges and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Vernon Court on September 28, 2016.
