state-police-seal-150x150State Police are investigating an apparent drowning that occurred Monday, October 10, 2016 on Skaneateles in the Town of Spafford.
On Monday, October 10, 2016, at approximately 4:30pm, Troopers responded to a reported drowning at 865 Ten Mile Point in the town of Spafford after a caller stated his friend was scuba diving from a pontoon boat that was anchored near shore and that he did not re-surface.

Onondaga County Sheriff Deputies along with AIR 1 helicopter, and members from the Spafford, Bordino and Skaneateles Fire Departments responded to the scene and assisted in the search for the victim.

The victim, identified as Ulises Garcia, age 50, of Syracuse, was located this afternoon by members of the State Police SCUBA unit in the area where the pontoon boat was anchored, approximately 120 feet from the surface.  State Police used a side scanning sonar to help locate the victim’s body.

An autopsy is scheduled tomorrow to determine the official cause of death.  The investigation is continuing.
