Myers announces endorsement from pro-seniors group and new TV ad promising to protect Social Security; will fight for working families and older Americans

The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare today announced its endorsement of Kim Myers for Congress, saying that Myers is “well-prepared to serve the needs of seniors and will make the preservation of Social Security and Medicare a priority in Congress.”

The group has millions of members and supporters across the country, including 6,000 in the 22nd Congressional district. “Our nation needs your leadership, vision and determination to fight for working families and older Americans,” said Max Richtman, President & CEO of NCPSSM.

Myers said, “I am thankful for this endorsement, and I pledge to protect and preserve Social Security and Medicare. We must not and can not fix budgets on the backs of hard working seniors who earned this benefit and should not have the financial rug pulled out from under them.”

Myers’ campaign also released a TV ad, “Counting On You,” touting her commitment to showing up to protect these important programs: “In Congress, people count on you,” Myers says in the spot. “I’ll show up to create good jobs and protect Social Security.” You can view it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-HLLaBBotQ.

And, among the elderly on Social Security, 21% of married couples and 43% of individuals rely on Social Security for 90% of their income.

The 22nd Congressional district encompasses a large part of central New York, including the major population centers of Utica and Binghamton.
