The core of the AFSP, Out of the Darkness Walks, the Community Walks, create a movement. Held in hundreds of cities across the country, they give people the courage to open up about their own struggle or loss, and the platform to change our culture’s approach to mental health.
When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
The Out of the Darkness Walk in Madison County was held Oct. 1, 2016, at Jim Marshall Farms and was chaired by Janelle Powell, one of our original coalition members. This Fourth Annual Walk raised more than $14,000 and had 244 participants!
