Celebrate “#GivingTuesday” at Gilligan’s in Sherburne Nov. 29 and support Rogers Center. From 4 p.m. until close, 20 percent of evening meal proceeds will be donated to Friends of Rogers.
“#GivingTuesday” is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Held on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, “#GivingTuesday” kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of- year giving.
This “FUNdraising” dinner is part of Friends of Rogers’ participation in “#NYGivesDay,” a 24-hour giving challenge designed to raise awareness and funds to change the world for the better. All community members are encouraged to be part of the celebration by making a special gift to Friends of Rogers Nov. 29 by visiting FriendsofRogers.org/donate.
“We are extremely grateful to Gilligan’s for partnering with us,” said Simon Solomon, FOR executive director. “Since 2011, when Friends of Rogers saved Rogers Environmental Education Center from closing, we have relied on local community members and generous businesses such as Gilligan’s to support our activities, allowing this vital resource to be preserved – and to flourish.”
Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for people of all ages. Seasonal hours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
