On Nov. 19, 2016, at approx 5:30 a.m., State Police in Oneida responded to a report of a menacing that occurred on Cooper Street in the village of Vernon.
The victim reported that they were following a dark colored truck on Cooper Street when both vehicles came to a stop at a stop sign at Verona Street. It was reported that the driver of the truck exited, approached the victim’s vehicle, and threatened the victim with a knife for no apparent reason. The suspect then drove away. No injuries were reported by the victim.
The victim retained pertinent information which led to the identity of the suspect.
On Nov. 19, 2016, at approx 7:30 p.m., Lance C. Gardner, 47, of Front Street, Vernon, was charged with second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Gardner was processed without incident and released on appearance tickets returnable in Vernon Town Court Dec. 14, 2016, at 4 p.m.
The investigation revealed that Gardner and the victim had no knowledge of or relationship with one another.
