During the New York Farm Bureau State Annual Meeting Chenango County Farm Bureau won 8 Silver Keys for Membership, Agriculture Education & Promotion, County Financial Management, Information & Public Relations, Leadership Development, Policy Development & Implementation – Local, Policy Development & Implementation – State & National, and Young Farmers & Ranchers, the Distinguished Presidents Award and the coveted Gold Key Award.
In addition, Chenango County Farm Bureau won the 2017 traveling trophy for outstanding Membership Achievement & Recruitment.
Three delegates, President Bradd Vickers, VP Keith Vanalthuis, Harvey Fletcher and alternates Fred Baker, Judy Baker, Judy Fletcher, Rainy Collins-Vickers, Dr. David Leahy DVM, Joe Cornell, Craig Jochum and Kerry Vanalthuis represented Chenango County Farm Bureau in setting NY Farm Bureau policy for 2017 based on policies passed at local County Farm Bureau Annual meetings.
Also voting delegates at the New York Farm Bureau State Annual Meeting in Albany elected David Fisher, a dairy farmer from St. Lawrence County, as the new president of the organization.
Fisher and his family have operated Mapleview Dairy in Madrid for four generations. He has served on the New York Farm Bureau Board of Directors for the past five years and previously was president of St. Lawrence County Farm Bureau. Fisher a graduate of Cornell University earning a degree in Animal Science & also is a graduate of the LEAD NY program.
