State Police in Oneida arrested Jalene D. Scribner, 31, of 9081 Arthur Jenkins Road in Canastota, for one count of cruelty to animals (NYS Ag. & Markets Law Section 353 & 353-b), a class “A” misdemeanor.
On Dec. 10, 2016, The animal control officer for Lenox responded to the residence on Arthur Jenkins Road. It was reported a dog at the residence was left outside without proper food, shelter or water. The homeowner, Jalene Scribner, was advised of the laws regarding the welfare of animals and was given a warning by the animal control officer.
On Dec. 13, 2016, animal control, along with Troopers after conducting periodic checks at that residence found the dog, a 4-year-old pitbull/beagle mix, chained up on the back porch without any food, water or shelter. The dog was immediately removed from the yard and taken to Wanderer’s Rest pending case disposition.
On Dec. 15, 2016, Scribner was arrested on animal cruelty charges and issued an appearance ticket for Lenox Town Court Dec. 20, 2016, at 1 p.m.
