The Schweinfurth Art Center will host a poetry reading featuring excerpts from The Healing Muse, SUNY Upstate Medical University’s journal of literary and visual art, which reflects on health, illness & disability. The reading will be held on Saturday, April 8, from 2-3:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Readers from The 2016 Healing Muse will include: Bruce Bennett, Pam Freeman, Mary Gardner, Kathleen Kramer, Eric v.d. Luft, Katharyn Howd Machan, Tori Russell and Judith Trice.
Visitors who attend the poetry reading are welcome to visit the Schweinfurth’s newly opened spring exhibitions at no charge. The three exhibits include Made in NY: Envisioning the Future, which includes 63 artworks by 52 artists; Paradise, an interactive sound installation; and Theresa Daddona-Traub’s exhibit, What Makes a Heart Bleed?
The Healing Muse is the journal of literary and visual art published by SUNY Upstate Medical University’s Center for Bioethics & Humanities. The journal welcomes fiction, poetry, narratives, essays, memoirs and visual art, particularly but not exclusively focusing on themes of medicine, illness, disability and healing.
