On Thursday March 30, 2017 at approximately 8:50 p.m., two State Troopers were assisting an Oswego County Sheriffs Deputy take a combative subject into custody on County Route 4 in the Town of Scriba. A gray Chevrolet sedan traveling west bound nearly struck the Deputy’s vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway as the prisoner was being placed into the vehicle.
The Troopers effected a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being operated by an 18-year-old Central Square resident. Investigation at the scene determined the teen was operating the vehicle while his ability was impaired by marijuana, and the operator was further found to be in possession of marijuana.
He was taken into custody and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, a misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation. He was released to a sober third party with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Scriba Court on April 6, 2017.
