On April 22, 2017, at approximately 5:40 a.m., State Police responded to the area of the eastbound “D” ramp, near Exit 24 of the state Thruway for a report of a disabled vehicle. The investigation revealed that Kristi Koppenhafer, 25, of Gloversville, was having a baby in the vehicle while en-route to the emergency room.
Troopers from SP Albany barracks arrived and, after assessing the medical situation, immediately contacted dispatch and requested an ambulance to respond. With the assistance of her husband Adrian and two Troopers, Kristi Koppenhafer was able to give birth to a healthy baby girl on the shoulder of the Thruway.
Shortly after the successful birth, EMS arrived and transported everyone to a local hospital where they are reported to be in good health.
