The Oneida Area Civic Chorale will present their “50th Anniversary Spring Concert” Sunday, June 4, 2017, at 4 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church of Rome. The concert will be the final event in a special weekend featuring world renowned composer, pianist and conductor Mark Hayes.
Hayes will rehearse with the Chorale and appear with them in the concert. He will conduct the Chorale on six of his compositions, accompany the Chorale on piano for one and perform two of his solo piano compositions.
The program will include a variety of music, including swing, jazz, gospel and sacred, as well as two of the pieces the Chorale has commissioned during its 50-year history. Hayes will also conduct an ecumenical community choir at the church’s Sunday morning worship service.
As a very special treat, the founding director of the OACC, Daryl Wonderly, will be in attendance and will conduct the group on a number performed at the Chorale’s very first spring concert. The concert will be directed by Kimberly Nethaway and accompanied on piano by Bernadette VanValkenburg, Colleen Pellman and Samuel Pellman.
Tickets for the concert are $10 and are available from Chorale members, at W.J. Hinman Jewelers in Oneida, by calling Beth at 315.655.3007 and the Rome Presbyterian Church office at 315-336-1380.
