Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Keaton Ackermann of Erieville has been selected to the Liberty League for an outstanding season in lacrosse.
Also an All-League Second Team selection as a wide receiver in football, Ackermann started all 15 games on defense. A sophomore, he had an assist with two shots (1 on goal) and 16 ground balls. He also caused nine turnovers while helping Rensselaer to 9.27 goals against average, which was third in the league.
Rensselaer finished with a 10-5 overall record, including four and five-game winning streaks midway through the campaign. The Engineers, who are coached by Jim Townsend, were 3-4 in Liberty League play, finishing fifth in the standings.
