Hand2Mouth, a performance team from Portland, Ore., will perform two separate shows, Pep Talk, Sept. 26, 2017, and Berlin Diary, Sept. 28, 2017. Both performances are free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Ticket reservations can be made through eventbrite.com.
Performances are held on the Colgate campus in the Dana Arts Center, Brehmer Theater at 7 p.m. Hand2Mouth is a group of artists who make plays and places for people today. They celebrate the potential of the live encounter and investigate the passions of hearts and times in order to build new windows that open to the world. Driven by connection and joy, they use evolving methods to create original performance events that are bold and accessible.
Pep Talk is an interactive theatrical celebration of coaches, teams, and everyday heroes. A crew of three coaches take the stage to explore the power of the pep talk in our lives and demonstrate, with the audience’s help, that every person has the ability to both give and receive words of encouragement and motivation. Pep Talk creates an art/sport atmosphere that inspires audiences to reflect on the past, cheer on the present, and step from passive observers to active participants.
Berlin Diary is a complex, contemporary drama about the search for home, fragmented heritage and Jewish diaspora, two performers scintillate between characters and locations at the border of reality and memory and the intersection of national history and private lives. Bob Hicks of Oregon Arts Watch states, “engrossing and surprisingly funny… a play about memory and loss and the force of history, and about the limitations and possibilities of the theater itself.”
