This past Saturday, a large fire destroyed the structure formerly known as the Munnsville Hotel. The fire also caused extensive damage to the structure that housed the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Field Office, immediately adjacent to the hotel.
Due to the damage sustained by the fire, the field office will no longer be in operation. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office will still maintain its same level of coverage providing the community with 24/7 police services.

You may also visit the Law Enforcement Building in Wampsville or one of the other Sheriff’s field offices, located in Earlville (at the village hall), DeRuyter (at the town hall) or Morrisville (behind the village offices).
The investigation is continuing this morning by both criminal and arson investigators. More details will be forthcoming in the next few days.
