Donations to benefit families in need

The Boy Scouts of America Leatherstocking Council is once again collecting food for families in need during their annual “Scouting for Food” program. Last year, the Council’s Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts collected over 30,000 items of food to benefit our local families in need. This year, this community service program is made possible in large part by a $5,000 grant from the M&T/Partners Trust Fund within the Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, Inc.

On Saturday, Nov. 4, local Scouts will be leaving donation requests at the doors of homes throughout the Council’s six-county area: Delaware, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Otsego and Schoharie counties. Residents are asked to place items of non-perishable food in Price Chopper bags and place them outside the door Saturday, Nov. 11. This food will be collected by the Scouts and then redistributed to local food banks.

If Scouts cannot make it to your home and you wish to contribute food items to this worthy cause, feel free to drop the items off at the locations below Nov. 18:

Drop-offs may be made by appointment at Caz Cares, Cazenovia, and the Mustard Seed in Georgetown. Call 315-655-2500 to schedule a time to drop-off.
