State Police seek public assistance with Hit & Run Investigation

UPDATED INFORMATION

State Police have identified the pedestrian struck yesterday while walking along State Route 5 in the town of Herkimer as 22-year-old, Kaitlyn McCloskey from Utica.

The driver of the vehicle, Shararhonda L. Hall, 31, from Ilion, was interviewed by investigators and stated she believed that she did strike something but did not realize she struck a person. She stated she immediately turned back and didn’t see the victim laying on the shoulder of the roadway. Hall went back to her residence where she contacted 911 to report the incident.

Hall has been charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd degree, an unclassified misdemeanor.


State Police have located the vehicle and driver involved in a fatal hit and run this evening. We would like thank the news media for their assistance. The investigation is continuing.


State Police in Herkimer is searching for a vehicle that struck a pedestrian on State Route 5 just west of State Route 51 in the town of Herkimer.

At approximately 8:23 p.m. this evening an unknown vehicle struck the female victim as she was walking along State Route 5 near State Route 51 in the town of Herkimer. The vehicle is described as a tan colored Subaru with damage to the passenger’s side mirror and headlight.

If anyone has information regarding the vehicle involved or was in the area around 8:23 p.m., they are asked to contact State Police immediately at (315) 366-6000 or call 911.
