Syracuse man arrested after pursuit with State Police
On Feb. 7, 2018, at approximately 2:20 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87, in the town of Coeymans for a vehicle and traffic violation.
After the initial interview of the driver Rashein Fortune, 38, of Syracuse, for the vehicle and traffic violation. Fortune sped away from the traffic stop in an attempt to avoid arrest for not having a valid driver’s license.
After a short pursuit which ended on I-90 (Berkshire Spur) he was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported and processed at SP Albany, were he was subsequently charged with:
- Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in the 3rd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
- Resisting Arrest; a Class A Misdemeanor
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st degree; a Class E Felony
- Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
- Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
- Multiple vehicle and traffic violations
Fortune is scheduled to be arraigned in the Town of Coeymans Court at 9 a.m. today’s date. No bail or return court date information available at this time. No injuries reported.
