Driver charged with DWAI-Drugs following crash on I-81
State Police arrested Jeremiah P. Davis, 33, from Fort Drum, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (DWAI) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, both misdemeanors.
On Feb. 8, 2018, State Police responded to a one-car crash on Interstate 81 in the town of Hastings.
When patrols arrived, they located a 2014 Toyota Tacoma, which had crashed into a guide rail on the east shoulder of the highway. The driver, later identified as Jeremiah P. Davis, was located behind the wheel unresponsive. Mentor ambulance along with Trooper Christopher Taylor began treating Davis at the scene. Davis was administered naloxone by EMS and became alert.
During the investigation, eight glassine envelopes containing heroin powder were located on Davis. While speaking to Davis, he admitted to using heroin while operating the vehicle. Davis was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in town of Hastings Court on February 14, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.
