On Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at about 9 p.m. members of the Oneida Police Department were dispatched to the area of Williams Street and East Railroad Street for what was reported to be an armed robbery.
The victim reported that he had been approached by two subjects who brandished a handgun and robbed him of some cash.
Members of the Oneida Police Department were assisted by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, along with their K-9 unit, as well as the New York State Police.
Since that initial report, investigators from the Oneida Police Department have followed up on numerous tips and have conducted numerous interviews. This investigation led to the Feb. 20 arrest of a 16-year-old Oneida male, who was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing and second-degree robbery.
The subject was arraigned in Oneida City Court and was remanded to the Madison County Public Safety Building Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.
Additional arrests may be forthcoming. The handgun believed to have been used in the commission of this crime has been located and secured by the Oneida City Police Department. It is described as being a BB gun.
