Sheriff issues travel advisory into the weekend
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has issued a travel advisory for the expected snow storm Friday, March 2, 2018, citing the National Weather Service winter storm warning in effect from tonight at 11 p.m. through Saturday at 1 a.m.
- Heavy snow is expected with accumulations up to 14 inches in some areas.
- The most snow will be on Friday and will diminish Friday evening.
- Tree branches could fall, obstructing the roadway.
- Winds gusting 40 to 50 mph Friday afternoon will cause blowing and drifting snow.
At this time, travel has not been restricted, but for the safety of all residents, the general public is encouraged to not do any unnecessary travel. It is urged that anyone traveling should use caution while driving, as hazardous road conditions may exist.
Keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of emergency.
