Raiders Earn First NCAA Bid in Program History, Host Northeastern Saturday
For the first time in program history, the Colgate women’s ice hockey team is heading to the NCAA Tournament. Colgate will host Northeastern Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Class of 1965 Arena.
“It means a lot to me, to the people in the locker room, our alums, and the people around campus,” Head Coach Greg Fargo said. “I’m just really just proud of this group for getting us here.”
The Raiders earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament after reaching the ECAC Hockey Championship game for the first time in program history.
The Raiders and Huskies met twice earlier this season back in October in Hamilton. The Raiders shut out the Huskies 3-0 on Oct. 14 and followed it up with a 5-2 win on Oct. 15.
Colgate has a program record 32 wins this season, shattering their previous high of 22, which they set each of the last two seasons.
The Raiders are 19-1-1 at the Class of 1965 Arena.
“For us, the focus throughout the year has been to just get better everyday. We just have fun everyday and enjoy everyday,” senior captain Annika Zalewski said. “Our message and our process won’t change.”
Tickets will go on sale this week. They will be $10 for adults and $5 for children. Keep checking gocolgateraiders.com throughout the week for more information.
