OPL hosts Irish music group Amadan March 28

Oneida Public Library welcomes the Amadan trio for a free concert of “Songs of Drinking and Blackguarding” from Ireland Wednesday, March 28, at 7 p.m.

Amadan (Irish for “fool’s errand”) features Mike Carroll on flute and bones, Bill Fahy on guitar and mandolin and Mike Hoke on fiddle. All share in the vocals for the lively and provocative songs.

The Amadan trio is an offshoot of Craobh Dugan (“Dugan’s Branch”). This Utica-based organization is part of the international Irish music organization called Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eirean, which is dedicated to promoting traditional Irish music and culture.

Members of the trio have performed before at the OPL, most recently last September in “The Irish and the Erie,” a concert of stories, lively tunes and songs related to the experiences of the immigrant Irish diggers who labored over seven years in building the Erie Canal.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, stop by the Oneida Library, 220 Broad St., or call (315) 363-3050.
