Canastota FBLA excels at State Leadership Conference in Binghamton
From April 11 through April 13, more than 700 members of the Future Business Leaders of America gathered in Binghamton for the annual State Leadership Conference.
Canastota’s High School chapter of FBLA sent eight members to the conference. Chapter advisors Elizabeth Garofalo and Robert Esposito accompanied the members.
Students participated in general sessions, workshops, competitive events and served as voting delegates throughout the three-day event.
At the conference, the Canastota Chapter was recognized as one of the top five outstanding chapters in the state – receiving fifth-place recognition for its efforts during the year. The Canastota chapter nominated James Caldwell of Caldwell Insurance Agency for the Business Person of the Year Award. Caldwell was selected to receive this prestigious award.

- Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure (Emily Case – fifth place)
- Introduction to Word Processing (Gabbie Edwards – fifth place)
- Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure (Carly Cashel – sixth place)
- Introduction to FBLA (Carly Cashel – seventh place)
- Introduction to Business Procedures (Hannah Farwell – ninth place)
- Insurance and Risk Management (April Dabrowski – 10th place)
- Local Chapter Annual Business Report – second Place
- Humanitarian Award – Emily Case

New York State FBLA is composed of nearly 8000 members in 180 chapters. Canastota members are looking forward to representing New York State at the National Leadership Conference being held this June in Baltimore, Md.
Fundraising activities are being planned to raise funds for this trip. We hope you will support the Canastota Chapter at its upcoming chicken barbeque being held at the school May 15.
