Canastota Area of Churches plan National Day of Prayer event May 3

Coordinating with efforts all over our country, the Canastota Area Association of Churches will hold its National Day of Prayer observance at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 3.

In a departure from past prayer services, this year’s edition will be held at the popular ZEM’s Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street. Weather permitting, the service will take place outdoors, and everyone attending is encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

In the event of rain, the observance will be moved inside to ZEM’s Community Room.

The service is expected to last until 8:15 p.m. and will include brief singing at the beginning and end. This year’s national theme is Prayer for Unity throughout our nation. Local organizers say that holding the NDOP out in the community has been a long-anticipated development, and that the theme of American Unity couldn’t be timelier, given the discord evident in any newscast.

Everyone interested is cordially invited to attend.
