More than 200 students present at SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference
More than 200 SUNY Oneonta students were selected to present at the 2018 SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference, hosted by SUNY Oneonta April 20.
Students from 28 SUNY colleges and universities presented 179 research projects in two poster sessions, and another 100 projects in oral presentations throughout the day.
Every spring, SURC brings together undergraduate researchers and faculty mentors for two daylong programs of presentations, performances, art displays and poster sessions held on two separate campuses. The second SURC event was April 21, at Monroe Community College in Rochester.
The following area students presented at SURC:
- Kayla Belush of Earlville, whose major is Spanish, International Studies, gave an oral presentation titled, “Human Rights and the U.S. Immigration System: Push Factors and the Search for the American Dream.”
- Megan Chiovaro of New Woodstock, whose major is Psychology, presented a poster titled, “The Impact of Exposure to Potentially Traumatic Events on Mental Health, and Seeking Mental Health Services.”
- Mikayla Gilchrist of Waterville, whose major is Psychology, presented a poster titled, “Perception of Proper Names.”
- Juliet Morin of Earlville, whose major is Biology, presented a poster titled, “Kennewick Man: A Forensic Facial Reconstruction.”
