State Police make arrests following a five-month heroin investigation in Syracuse

A five-month long Heroin investigation by the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET-Central) resulted in several search warrants being executed in the city of Syracuse.

On May 10, 2018, State Police members from CNET Central, Special Operations Response Team, State Police K-9 Unit, Troop D Uniform Troopers along with members of the Syracuse Police Department executed a search warrant at 210 Kellogg Street and 213 Congress Avenue in the city of Syracuse.

Seized as a result of the warrant were:

  • 83 glassine bags containing Heroin & Fentanyl
  • 269 small zip-lock bags containing cocaine
  • $301.00 in U.S. currency

State Police arrested and charged the following three individuals with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a class “B” felony:

  • Ricardo A. Bonilla, age 50, from 213 Congress Avenue Syracuse
  • Carlos J. Lazu, age 39, 201 Kellogg Street Syracuse
  • Edwin J. DeJesus, age 37, homeless

All three were arraigned in city of Syracuse Court. Bonilla was remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center in lieu of $5,000 cash bail, Lazu was held without bail, and DeJesus was remanded on $10,000 cash bail.
