Chittenango snail is making national news
On Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at 6:30 p.m., the Great Swamp Conservancy, Inc., will host a presentation on how one person can make a difference.
The program is free and open to the public.
The threatened Chittenango snail is making a comeback, thanks to a graduate student at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
While defending her master’s thesis, Cody Gilbertson researched for several years to determine how to expand the safety and home base of the endangered Chittenango ovate amber snail (Novisuccinea chittenangoensis). Gilbertson will share this fascinating and successful struggle that was advanced in conjunction with the state Department of Environmental Conservation and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
This program is a collaborative effort between the American Wildlife Conservation Foundation and the GSC. For more information, call 315.697.2950 or email greatswampconservancy@gmail.com.
