Learn how “It’s Easy Being Green” at Rogers Environmental Education Center
While Kermit the Frog may say otherwise, the team at Rogers Environmental Education Center is planning to demonstrate that it is actually easy to be green! Join Friends of Rogers and Kimberly LaCoe, Regional Coordinator of Recycling Outreach and Education with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, for a new interactive workshop series. Each month, participants will explore a specific topic, including a brief history, applicable laws and policy, and assistance opportunities to address the issue.
Beginning July 19, “It’s Easy Being Green” will be held at 6:30 pm the third Thursday of every month. Workshops take place at Rogers Environmental Education Center, just off state Route 80 in Sherburne. The first session of the series will address ‘Materials Management.’ From resource identification and depletion to conservation techniques through use reduction and reuse to the development of repair cafes, recycling, and organics diversion, many aspects of materials management will be explored.
On August 16, have a ‘Conservation Conversation.’ Take a trip down memory lane to reflect upon the role past actions/inactions have on the world today. Share in a conversation about conservation; changing habits, managing household waste, how current activity is affecting modern efforts, and more.

Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for people of all ages. Seasonal hours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
