Fenner man rescued from woods near home
On June 23 at about 9 p.m., a female reported that at 7:45 p.m., her 75-year-old father had walked into a wooded area next to his residence and had not returned; the female informed the 911 center that her father was deaf and had several medical conditions.
Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputies with sheriff’s and state police K9 units and members of the Cazenovia Fire Department responded to the scene and began a search of the area for the missing man.
Members of the New York State Forest Rangers, Madison, Onondaga and Oswego counties’ search and rescue teams, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office Air One, Madison County Emergency Management, Cazenovia Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps and community volunteers and neighbors assisted in the search, which continued into the next morning.
On June 24 at about 9 a.m., members of the search team found the man approximately one-half mile from his residence submerged in mud and dense vegetation. Members of the search team, along with emergency medical personnel, removed the man from the area to a waiting ambulance for transport to a local hospital for evaluation.
