Fatal car-pedestrian crash in Oneida County
State Police in Marcy are investigating a fatal car-pedestrian crash that occurred shortly after noon June 27, 2018, on Bartlett Road in the town of Westmoreland, Oneida County.
The investigation revealed a 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage, operated by Bruce F. Neidl, 75, of Westmoreland, was traveling southbound on Bartlett Road when he approached an incline in the roadway and noticed a man walking near the double solid yellow line in the roadway. Neidl attempted to swerve but was unable to avoid striking the pedestrian.
The pedestrian has been identified as Charles T. Hast, 71, of 6271 Bartlett Road, who was crossing the roadway after checking his mailbox. Hast was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation continues.
