Thursday Concerts on the Green: The Old Main | Comic-Con Night
Thursday Concerts on the Green’s second event will be taking place on July 19, 2018 on Hamilton’s Village Green in the center of downtown Hamilton. Hailing from the foothills of the Adirondack mountains in upstate New York, The Old Main has drawn favorable comparisons to bands such as The Avett Brothers, The Band, and Dawes while retaining a sound and style uniquely their own. They’ve been called Folk/Rock, Adirondack Folk, foot stomping Folk, alt-Americana, and all sorts of other things. But regardless of the adjective and/or categorization used, they’ve developed a voice all their own through their high energy live performances and the raw acoustic sound created through their use of acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo, upright bass, drums, and ringing vocal harmonies.
In addition to terrific performances, each night will be dedicated to important community service providers (teachers, first responders, health care professionals, etc.) and include family-friendly events. Folks are encouraged to dine on the Village Green. Local food trucks will be present selling their specialties and local restaurants ready for you to take out something tasty. Ice cream, generously provided by Hood Dairy, will be sold on the Green with 100 percent of the proceeds going to worthy non-profit organizations, with this week’s proceeds benefiting the Hamilton Public Library.
This Thursday’s event theme is Comic-Con! Kids and adults are encouraged to wear their favorite superhero costumes. Ravenswood Comics of New Hartford is donating free comic books and the Colgate Bookstore will be handing out superhero balloons.
Yard games will be available for all including: KanJam, Corn Hole, and the Ladder Game, courtesy of Parry’s General Store, as well as Giant Jenga, Yard Yahtzee, and a Washer Toss game.
This week’s event begins at 5:30 p.m. Music will run from 7 to 9 p.m. For more information and rain date locations, visit facebook.com/thursdayconcertsonthegreen.
The evening’s concert and events are free for all to enjoy! The rain location for this event is the Palace Theater.
